In a season where Manchester United can win the FA Cup and still mathematically finish fourth in the Premier League, many fans still want to see a change of manager in the close season.
Here are five major reasons why Louis van Gaal's job is under threat.
1. Wasting Money
According to The Mirror, Louis van Gaal has spent around £250m on transfer fees since his arrival in the summer of 2014. This is a huge amount, and infinitely more than David Moyes was afforded.
This splurge in transfers has yielded few success stories, with Daley Blind and Anthony Martial the only ones to really impress. Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao were very expensive mistakes and departed after just one season.
2. Strange Tactics
Van Gaal's tenure has seen numerous tactical outlooks that have derived derision from the home support. Most head-scratching of all was surely deploying Ashley Young, a winger, in the striker position when Anthony Martial - scorer of 17 goals this season - was stuck out wide.
Other moves have included playing Angel Di Maria as a striker and insisting that the 3-5-2 formation be deployed despite not having the requisite personnel.
3. Style of Play
Manchester United fans' biggest gripe with their Dutch manager is undoubtedly their side's slow and methodical style of play. He favours a possession-based approach - United have the second highest average in the league - to wear teams down.
He also insists on pairing players such as Marouane Fellaini, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Michael Carrick together and they struggle to provide fluidity and drive in midfield.
4. Scoring Goals
This season United have been woeful in front of goal - they have been drawing 0-0 in 22 of their 36 league games at half-time. This is typified by their top scorer being Anthony Martial, despite having just 11 league goals to his name.
The lowest-scoring season was in the 2004/05 season when the club scored 58 goals. This season they have managed just 46 so far, which is the lowest amount in the top nine teams in the Premier League.
5. Decimated Squad
Van Gaal has overseen a huge churn of players in and out of the club. The squad he is built is very thin, so when an injury crisis takes place there is very little cover. Players such as Javier Hernandez, Danny Welbeck and Nani would surely still get game-time with this poor group of players.
This campaign has seen players such as Donald Love, Nick Powell and Will Keane make first team appearances due to a lack of depth in the team.
